Skin Type

Even the water we drink often fails to hydrate our skin due to chemicals that have leached into our water supply.

This page has some general information on types of skin, to help you begin learning more about your best approach to personal skin care.

Normal Skin:

This is the skin we’d all love to have. Normal skin has good elasticity and is smooth and firm to the touch.
Oily Skin

It’s the only time in my life that my own skin was overly oil.

Dry Skin:

If you see skin flaking off or your skin feels tight on your face, you probably are a dry skin type. There are other skin disorders that can produce the appearance of dry skin type including dermatitis, eczema or psoriasis.

Combination Skin:

Combination skin is like having a split-personality. In some cases, the skin could be normal everywhere outside the T Zone and this would still be combination skin type.
Sensitive Skin

If your skin is easily irritated or fits into the other descriptions, you may be a sensitive skin type.

This skin therapy provides true moisturizing—since skin is 35% to 90% water, moisture in the form of water is imperative for beautiful skin.

Only skin-enhancing enzymes and nutrients are used. Traditional “moisturizers” can cover up the skin with a layer of oil that traps the moisture that is already present if the oils in a moisturizer are not water soluble.

At night, to keep your skin’s normal moisture balance apply a thin film of homemade moisturizer. Any time your skin becomes slightly oily or slightly dry in any area correct these tendencies by following the advice given elsewhere regarding these types of skin.

Dry skin has a parched look caused by its inability to retain moisture. A dry skin is a fine-textured skin and is prone to wrinkles and chapping. Use a mild soap for cleansing the skin; follow a bath or a shower with a mild application of baby oil. Often a chronically oily skin has coarse pores and pimples and other embarrassing blemishes. If you have an excessively oily skin, take a diet rich in proteins but restricted in sugar, fluids and salt. Dry well before putting on your makeup.

Combination skin is a combination of both oily and dry skin. A sensitive skin is a thin or a fine-textured skin. If you have this type of skin Use sunscreen lotions or creams. Wash your face with mild baby soap, rinse thoroughly and pat the skin dry with a soft towel; do not use rough towel. This type of skin has a very rough texture usually full of wrinkles. Chapped skin has a rough texture which sometimes causes the skin to crack. When the skin feels dry, wash of with water and apply homemade nourishing cream. Instead clean your skin with gram flour made into a paste with milk cream. Apply homemade cold cream every night before retiring. Blot dry, then massage gently either with almond or olive oil. Sallow skin has a “No color look”. Fresh blood and increased oxygen remove all that might dull or blemish the skin.
